Privacy Policy — BarTally

BarTally (“the app”, “we”, “us”) helps people find cheap drinks, happy hours, live music, and events at bars near them. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. Questions: shorebartracker@gmail.com.
Information we collect
You can browse as a guest without an account. We only collect the data below once you sign in or use a feature that needs it.
- Account (Sign in with Apple). When you sign in, Apple gives us a unique identifier and, if you allow it, your email address and name. You may choose Apple’s “Hide My Email” — that’s fine, the app works with it.
- Profile. A username (auto-generated for you, editable) and, optionally, a profile photo you upload.
- Location. With your permission, your device’s location is used to show bars near you and calculate distances. Location is used on-device and to sort results; we do not sell it or build advertising profiles from it. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings — the app still works.
- Content you submit. Prices, wait times, cover charges, crowd levels, happy-hour updates, events, bar check-ins, friend connections, and bar crawls.
- Basic technical data. Standard information (such as app version and errors) needed to operate and troubleshoot the service.
How we use it
- To show you nearby bars, live prices, happy hours, and events.
- To power social features you opt into: friends, check-ins, and bar crawls.
- To attribute your submissions to your account and show your contribution stats.
- To keep the service safe (reviewing reported content and enforcing our Terms).
Payments
BarTally Premium is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Apple’s In-App Purchase system. We never receive, see, or store your card details, Apple Account, or billing address. Apple tells the app only whether an active subscription exists on the device — nothing about who paid or how. Purchases are covered by Apple’s own privacy policy.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that run the app:
- Apple — for Sign in with Apple and app delivery.
- Supabase — our database and authentication host, which stores your account and submissions on our behalf.
We may disclose information if required by law.
Sharing with other users
Your username, profile photo, submissions, events, and check-ins are visible to other users of the app (check-ins are visible to your friends). Your email address is never shown to other users.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account. In the app: Profile → Delete Account. This permanently erases your profile, friends, saves, and submissions from our systems. Content you contributed to shared bar listings may be retained in anonymized form.
- Location & photos. Manage or revoke these permissions in iOS Settings.
- Block & report. You can block other users and report objectionable content from within the app.

Children
BarTally is intended for adults of legal drinking age and is rated 17+. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 17.
Data retention & security
We keep your data while your account is active. Access is protected by per-user database security rules and industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
